Top 20 DOS for your Wedding Hair Style
1. DO schedule a test run for your bridal hair style about 6 months
before your wedding if possible. Bring Polaroid camera to hair
appointment and take pictures of front and sides.
2. DO consider time of day and type of wedding that your are
planning. Typically, Informal weddings are in the day time and
Formal weddings are in the evening. Select a hair style that is
appropriate for your wedding.
3. DO schedule your wedding day hair appointment at least 8 weeks
in advance. Confirm details such as whether the stylist is coming to
your location or you are going to the salon.
4. DO ask for more than one stylist to help if the whole wedding
party is getting their hair styled.
5. DO schedule pedicure and/or manicure the day before to allow
more time on the day of the wedding for you hair.
6. DO get a hair stylist that specializes in bridal or formal
updos, especially if you are looking for intricate styles.
7. DO bring a picture of your wedding dress and the actual
headpiece to your test run hair appointment.
8. If you are short, consider a high updo, as they can add inches
to the bride’s height.

9. If you use hot rollers to set your hair, DO wait until they
cool before you touch them.
10. If you are coloring your hair, DO have this done 1-2 weeks
before the wedding.

month before your wedding.

more than 4 days before the wedding. Overly conditioned hair is

14. DO wear a buttoned down shirt to your wedding day hair
session, to avoid messing up your hair when taking the shirt off.
15. If you have not purchased your tiara or veil, DO plan to shop
for these right after you have your test run hair appointment.
16. DO incorporate a detail from your wedding dress into your
hair design. For example, braiding or twisting of the fabric can be
created in your hair style.
17. DO plan all new hair styles, chemical treatments or services
well in advance of your wedding, at least 3 months.
18. DO choose a hairstyle that is consistent with your overall
bridal image. For example, a simple wedding dress calls for an
uncomplicated hair style.
19. DO bring lots of different photos of hair styles that you
like to your trial appointment, along with photos of dresses, veils,
headpieces that you also like. It is always a good idea for the
stylist to understand your likes and dislikes.
